DESCRIPTIONS ACTIVITIES

Day 1

Our Driver will pick you from the airport/ Entebbe Airport and transfer you to the Hotel booked for you either within Entebbe or in Kampala city (43KM) from Entebbe. You will need have some rest after your long flight. 

You will be saved breakfast or lunch or dinner depending on the time of your arrival.

Hotel booked will depend on your choice that includes; on budget, middle class or luxuries

  • Evening walk around the showers of Lake Victoria if the night is taken in Entebbe
  • Swimming 

Day 2

Early morning Breakfast will be saved and a Drive from Kampala and proceed to the western part of the country by either passing through Masaka-Mbarara which is 422km drive by 4*4 vehicle that takes you through Queen Elizabeth national park crossing the Equator line that takes 7-8 hours and arrive in Kasese town or by using Mityana-Fortportal Kasese road which is 372km drive that takes 6–7-hour drive to Kasese. On reaching either Mbarara or Fort Pportal, your driver will stop you for a lunch and then proceed to Kasese and to your booked hotel for an overnight.

Starting the 7 days Circuit that involves Nature walk, Hiking, Trekking and Camping in the Rwenzories

This will take you 8 days/ 7 Nights in the Mountains

This hiking via the central circuit trail that covers around 120KM takes you to the Rwenzoris and take a closer view of various mountains like Mt Baker (4843m), Mount Stanley (5109m), Mt Speke (4890m)

Mt Stanley which is the tallest mountain has several summits with the Highest peak Margarita that is 5109m above sea level.

Hiking this Mt Rwenzori through the central circuits gives you an opportunity to discover something new during you adventure. 




Day 3

Mihunga to Nyabitaba (2651M above sea level)

Our guide will pick you early morning after your breakfast to the Rwnzori Mountains National Park (Mihunga Gate)

This will be the point where you will be briefed by the quide or tourism officer about the trip and also a point of hiking equipment preparation.

The hiking starts through the farmland and homes of the bakonzo Community which is the indigenous community of the Rwenzoris, gradually followed by the thick forest along the R. Mubuku

Cross the mahoma River before starting a long steep climb up onto a massive ridge to reach the first Camping site Nyabitaba hut.

You are most likely to hear or see chimpanzee and black monkey and white colobas, blue monkeys and the brilliant-coloured Rwenzori Turraco.

This first phase of the Rwenzori Hike takes 6-7hrs with the elevation height of 1036m

Day 4

Nyabitaba to John Matte thats at 3505m above Sea Level

From Nyabitaba follow the trail that drop through the forest to the Kurt shater bridge just below the joining of the mubuku and Bujuku river. Penetrating through the Bambo forest, transverse through along and exhausting track of slippery moss-covered rock.

You can be able to have a view of Mt Stanley and Mt Speke from Nyamuleju rock shelter before entering the zone of gaint heather lobelia and groundsel. 

You will finally reach the John Matte Camp after passing through the tiring bog. Dinner and overnight will be conducted here. This phase takes a duration of 7-8hrs with an elevation height of 854m

Day 5

From John Matte to Bujuku that is 3962m above sea level

Early morning after breakfast in the John Matte camp, the trail starts by dropping down to cross the Bujuku river and enter the lower Bigo Bog the home of gaint lobelias sceneries

A jumping experience from tussock to tussock. The bog will be finally crossed though its rarely without the feet sampling some of the freezing ooze below

Upper Bigo bog gives a route to Lake Bujuku with a view to mount baker southern and Mt Stanely to the western.

Bujuku camp that is well located in the shadow of Mt Baker and Mt Speke is seen in a narrow valley.

This is the best camp for travellers that are attempting the summits of Mt Stanley and Mt Speke peaks

Dinner and overnight is held at the Bujuku camp and the phase takes 4-5 hrs with an elevation of 457m 

Day 6

Bujuku Camp to Elena Camp 4541M above Sea Level

Leaving Bujuku, the trail takes you through a more bog while climbing the steep slopes west of the lake and through the magical and forest of groundsel gully

Turning to your right up to the Elena and Mt Stanley on the steep trail over a large boulder while the trial on your left leads those not climbing Margharita peak to Kitandara camp.

The climbing team will have their dinner and over night at Elena camp and the rest of the team will have their dinner and over night at kitandara camp. This takes a duration of 5-6 hrs with an elevation height of 579m 

Day 7

Elena Camp to Kitandara Camp that is 4430m Above Sea Level

Early Morning you, you will do the climbing of the highest peak Margharita on the Mt Stanley. To reach the summit of Margarita, the exercise takes 4-5hrs depending on the weather condition. This walk takes you to over three glaciers slippery rocks with ice and exposed areas which is open on many sides

The descending from Margharita peak back to Elena camp takes 2-3 hrs for lunch. After the lunch descending to the Scott-Elliot passing where there is spectacular view of Bujuku lake and Mt Speke.

The trail passes through an alpine zone of sparsely vegetation and rough boulders, descend past Kitandara Lake. Dinner and over night are conducted at Kitandara Camp.

Day 8

Katandra Camp to Guy YEOMAN that’s 3261m above sea Level

From Kitandara, you will take on the trail that ascends steeply up on the  headwall, spreading out from the base of Mt Baker and continuing along the south of the mountain.

Start the descend though the steep rock trail and rock shelter at Bujongolo the historical base camp by the Duku of Abruzzi. Overnight and dinner are saved at Guy Yeoman camp and this phase takes 6-7hrs

Day 9

GUY YEOMAN to Nyabitaba Camp

From Guy Yeomen, the route Descends to the cliffs of Kichuchu. Beyond Kichuchu is a muddy path crosses the R. Mubuku twice through a bamboo forest before slopping down to Nyabitaba camp to Complete your Circuit.

Dinner and overnight will be held again here in Nyabitaba Camp.

Day10

Nyabitaba Back to Mihunga Gate/ Nyakalengijo.

Early in the morning after your breakfast, a continue Descending from Nyabitaba Camp back to Nyakalenginjo/ Mihunga is done to complete the Trek
